Motion Adaptive Progressive Scan (MAPS): Many projectors use line doubling, but this reduces resolution and causes line flicker.
To overcome this problem Hitachi use a memory buffer to store the two fields which are combined into a single frame and projected twice progressive scanning.
This still does not prevent the smearing of objects that move rapidly across the picture. The rapid movement means that the alternate lines of the object are shifted between the first and second field which, when combined, produce a broken up appearance.
Some of our projectors use sophisticated image processing techniques to isolate a moving object. It's field lines are aligned and combined and use the object shown in its correct position in each frame.
